Das Institut der Nephilim

Charlotte gazes at Henry’s hand as it surrounds hers. In this moment, She wants his warmth and comfort above all else.

Her hand squeezes his lightly and she looks up at him.

“I’m worried. What if the Lightwoods try to forcibly remove me from the Institute?” Her fears are close to the surface, but she cannot allow these thoughts to overwhelm her. Instead she raises a brow at Henry, “I know I can trust you to remain at my side. You are my husband. I know you love me as well as you can.”

Charlotte sighs quietly as she ponders Henry’s invention. If they could stop the Clockwork Army, perhaps there was a chance she would survive as head of the Institute. She smiles again at Henry. “Keep working. I trust you will be successful. You are the key to fighting this army.”

Her eyes shift back to the stack of papers on her desk. She can’t help but wonder if the work will ever be complete.

Charlotte changes the subject as she addresses her husband once more. “Henry” She bites her lip, unsure how to proceed. “Do you ever wish for more than this?” She waves her hand in the air to indicate both the Institute and subtly gestures to herself. Her eyes drop to their linked hands. “I know this isn’t what you imagined for yourself.”

Charlotte’s cheeks burn as she expresses her vulnerability.

(This is my first attempt at posting for Charlotte. I hope you enjoy it!)
